This time of year ... best time to play online?
Guys,
I'm a relative novice to Party Poker but with the weather I've been getting random colds so I've gone to Foxwoods less and have been staying at home more. My friend has an account on Party Poker that I'm messing around with at random times as his wife has him doing all sorts of nonsensical things (you know, like spending time with her). My question is this: in the smaller limits (3/6 and 5/10) what are the times you all have experienced as the most profitable? Mornings? Evenings? LATE at night? Weedays? Weekends? Any info would be appreciated as to the game here in February (as February will invariably play different than other months, as people's schedules change). Thanks! I play the NL tables but later at night and weekends seem to be the juiciest. Weekend nights are the best, unfortunately I'm usually to messed up to take full advantage....
To be honest, I usually judge by the number of people playing. When it is above 60k or so I find the games are soft. JKratzer |

Re: This time of year ... best time to play online?
I honestly don't know why a different time of day might be better at one time of year than another.
Are morning games in Feb supposed to be better than morning games in July....and evening games in October not as typically juicy as evening games in April? Sorry for the pseudo-sarcasm...but it really seems like this is what you're getting at to a certain extent and I honestly don't get it. |

Summer may be slower as more people are outside, on the golf course, etc. |

No matter what time of day or what month it is. There are allways good games to be found. Some times you may have to jump from table to table more often.

He wasn't asking if one season is better than another though.
He was asking if the morning games are better in Feb...or if the evening games are better in July. It's a bit different. Basically, he's saying: "Since it's February...does that mean I should I be playing in the afternoon more often?" |

True.
What about my season theory though? Have you found that to be the case? I only started playing this fall so I was just making a guess. |

Re: This time of year ... best time to play online?
This has been discussed a bit.
Some people have speculated that Dec-Jan is not a great time to play because of people spending...or having spent all their dough on XMas shopping. Some B&M casinos I think do extra business in Feb-Apr because people are getting their tax-refund checks. Thast's the theory anyway. New season of the World Poker Tour starts in March. TV coverage of the new WSOP season will probably be in Aug or Sept I guess. NBC's new Heads-up poker championship starts in may i believe. These are kinda helpful. It can be related to a specific situation too. Play was down dramatically during the super-bowl. I fell asleep afterwards but there were many people speculating that the games were going to get pretty good after the game was over. A couple weekends ago there was a huge snow-storm in the northeast. Not coincidentally, there were more players online than usual for a Sunday afternoon. Some people seem to speculate that summer months isn't as good for online-poker because people actually are more inclined to go (GASP).......outside!!!! I think there are so many factors out there working together or contradicting each other (great weather means going outside....also comes with increased poker-TV coverage) that it's really kinda hard to tell when the best time of year is for the online-games. |

Re: This time of year ... best time to play online?
I was specifically asking if people thought February was better mornings or evenings or whatever. Not just the season. Now. Yes, it is an odd question but I know many people who keep track of all sorts of things (I won't go through the laundry list of particulars that I keep track of for live gaming at Foxwoods, everything from shaven / not shaven through color of shirt to aftershave or not).
There are all sorts of things that change the game. With the Net, I thought it seemed intuitive that playing in the evenings would be the juicest ... but I figured some expert advice would help. Like I said on the top, I'm new to online poker (only been playing now a week) and I am using my friends account so.... it's sort of a gift to him as I've been doing well and he needs the money, so, I gain some online experience and he makes some dough. Regardless, thanks to everyone that replied. I do appreciate the information. Barron Vangor Toth www.BarronVangorToth.com |
