Default TPNK, 1st hand

Very first hand at the table and I have no notes on anyone.

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Rico is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Rico posts a blind of $3.
UTG calls, 2 folds, MP1 calls, 2 folds, Rico (poster) checks, 1 fold, SB completes, BB checks,

Flop: (5 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB bets, BB calls, UTG folds, MP1 calls, Rico raises, SB calls, BB calls, MP1 calls.

Turn: (6.50 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, MP1 bets, Rico folds

I am not crazy about the flop raise.
I am not crazy about the turn fold.
But neither seems that bad.

Set me straight.

Maybe he put you on a flush draw?

Agreed. Very possible. So he must have had some sort of hand if he was afraid I might check it through. Would he bet here with a hand worse than mine? --- not likely. Do I have a chance to catch up--probably--but I am unsure which or how many outs I have. In addtion, there are still 2 more to act behind me, including the flop bettor, and I might be drawing to a split with a stronger A.

FWIW, my plan was to bet the turn and check behind on the river.

One small bump for mankind......

No one want to accuse me of needlessly spewing chips on the flop, or being a weak tighty on the turn?

I think your plan was fine, and your deviation from your plan was fine. Tough to protect this hand with callers between you and the flop bettor. Also tough think you're ahead with that board and MP1 betting into you.
