I felt someone was on trips and I needed to make my move on the turn, but I was given the chance of a seeing a cheap river card to fold if the board paired. Heres the hand

Turn: ($6.50) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero checks, UTG+1 checks, MP1 bets $0.25, MP2 raises to $3.25, Hero raises to $8, UTG+1 raises to $27.35, MP1 calls $27.10, MP2 calls $5.25 (All-In), Hero calls $6.15 (All-In).

Fold pre-flop...fold the turn...get the money in on the river. You have 6 outs on the flop and clubs and a set/2pair have re-draws.

I was small blind thats why I called there with the aggressive table. Why Do i fold the turn though I had a straight best hand on the board

He meant: fold preflop, fold the flop,... but given that you didn't, push the turn. Obviously you don't have "outs" after the river.

I meant fold the flop and get the money in on the turn. Sorry, fantasy baseball is taking over my mind.

Drawing to this hand is a bad idea with the flush draw and reraise?
Will u ever chase a straight like this.

Unfortunately, this thinking is backwards.

If you make a huge bet on the turn, and your opponent has a set, you've forced him to make a mistake -- calling off his whole stack when he's behind in the hand.

If you keep the pot small on the turn, YOU're making the mistake -- you're allowing him to draw cheaply to one of his 10 outs(though he doesn't know that he's drawing).

The bottom line is that you don't want to see a cheap river card -- you want to get your money in as a huge favorite on the turn. If you lose, you lose... but at least you played the hand correctly. When this hand comes up twice more in the next year, you'll probably win them both.

Change the turn to the 8c in this four-way pot. Do you like your hand?

How surprised would you have been to see 97 in someone's hand? Not saying I'd fold the turn; of course, I'd raise and then push as you did. But you are aware you didn't have the nuts on the turn, right?
