AK.. meh
trying to clear the rest of a bonus at stars. This is the only table I'm playing while writing a term paper among other things so I haven't been paying too much attention to this table. I have noticed that the players at this table have a tendency to call down/get stubborn with underpairs.

I would raise the flop and take the free turn card if given.

Re: AK.. meh
Raising the flop would be horrible. Terrible. Lousy. Calling, as you did, is perfect.
A QJx flop is NOT a good flop for AK! Come on guys, what percent of raising/limping/coldcalling hands are you beating on this flop? Not much at all. You don't want to give action on this flop, you want to get to the next street as cheaply as possible. The only question I have is whether or not to call the river. This is pretty game-dependent and close, and I'm also accustomed to playing shorthanded and higher so I'm really not suited to comment on it. But I would definitely at least give it some consideration. |

Re: AK.. meh
Einbert's right. You're going to see a showdown here almost always against MP3, and he's better than us most of the time here. There's a decent chance he'll 3-bet us too, so we don't even get the free card. Why would we wanna protect his pot?
This is a perfect example of over extending a hand. This AK doesn't want to take the lead, it's too weak. |

On the flop we have less information than we do on the river. At the flop descision we are right to not raise because our villian is probably better, and if not, it doesn't hurt us to let him keep the lead. On the river we've gained alot of information, and it's right to see a showdown (because of what I said above). |
