Pot odds simple question
I was wondering how to make a chart that would say how big the pot would need to be to have me make a call.
For example, for the 2/4 limit - I know the odds of catching a 15 outer on the river is 2.07-1. For my chart, I calculated the needed pot size for me to correctly call and I got $8.14 (that includes the $4 turn bet). I got that number by doing (2.07*2)+4 = $8.14 However, I plugged in the same scenario at a pot odds calculator and got a different answer. What is the formula I am trying to figure out what the pot size needs to be in relation to the bet using the 2/4 bet size numbers. Thanks for your help [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] |

You may be making this too difficult. If you're odds are 2.07:1 and you have to call $4 then the pot needs to be (2.07 * 4) = $8.28 so that 2.07:1 == 8.28:4 If you were facing a bet and a raise then you'd want (2.07 * 8) = $16.56 to preserve your breakeven ratio at 16.56:8 . . . make sense?
In general you're probably better off just counting bets anwyay. If I'm on a flush draw and my opponent bets the turn I know I just look to make sure there are 4 bets in the pot including the bet into me. If there are then I have an easy call (assuming no other considerations such as aggressive players behind me, a paired board, etc.). |
