Best Chip Count for but in?
Hey all
I played a few friendly home tourneys the other day. Most of the guys are just learning to play, quoting Rounders and doing their best to sound like the analysts they see on TV. In the first game I pretty much just blinded off through the whole first round and when i finally caught a remotely playable hand I was by far the short stack and busted out. For the next game I suggested raising the starting stacks, but keeping the blinds the same. Everyone agreed, but didn't seem to get the significance. I rarely play 'real' tournaments. Is there an ideal stack to start everyone with in relation to the blinds? Should it also be related to the payout? Any thoughts would be appreciated. AAeyes |

i like 50 or 100 BB to start, depending on how long you want the tourny to go.

Re: Best Chip Count for but in?
If you want to ensure that everyone gets to play for at least an hour or so, either
A) Start with 100bb, double blinds at the half hour mark and at the hour mark. B) Start with 30-50bb and allow 1 hour of rebuys Just make sure that it doesn't take too long to get through the later levels. You'll have to ramp up the blinds in shorter intervals or at greatever multiples as you proceed to avoid a marathon game. See the obligatory www.homepokertourney.com for info. |
