Default Playing in Vegas (vacation), Limits???

I'm going to be headed to Vegas in about a month. I'm a winning player for 1+BB/hr multi-tabling 5/10 SH for over 75k hands. I worked my way up at full ring games (.5/1 to 1/2 to 2/4 to 3/6) before going SH at 5/10.

My question is what levels can/should I play in Vegas. Per the 300xBB bank roll requirement (my self enforced req.), I could go up 15/30 and almost 20/40. Can I expect this games to be too tough and play at 10/20? Or can I expect enough tourists that either 15/30 or 20/40 are playable? I'm looking to play at Mirage, Bellagio and check out the Wynn. Suggestions?

Default Re: Playing in Vegas (vacation), Limits???

i went to vegas 2 weeks ago and was in an identicle situation BR wise...

I stayed at the mirage, and highly recommend to others.

they spread
6/12 or 8/16 cant remember
10/20
20/40
40/80

general rule of thumb, at least what i have heard on here is whatever u play on line is comparable to double that limit live ( so 5/10 online= 10/20 live)

Anyways what I did was start at 10/20, with the idea after I had a solid session I would allow myself to move up...
I like this idea because...
1. My trip was paid for entirely thru poker BR
2. What better time to take a shot?
3. It wasnt a permanent move to higher limits that my BR could not support
4. If I had a good session when I moved up, part of my buy in would have already been earned on tables

Anyways ended up playing 10/20 1st day, winning moving to 20/40 second day
solid win at 20/40 second day
At this point I could have moved up but I was a little uncomfortable w/ the entirely Asian line up at the 40/80, I got the impression they all knew one another....So i decided to stay 20/40 on the 3rd day
4th day I played my 1 and only tourney (which I won!)
and decided if the table looked favorable I would play 40/80 (also last night of my trip)...
40/80 table looked good to me, I had played w/ a couple of the players prev @ 20/40 and thought it would be good time to take a shot....
put my name on the list, played 20/40 while waiting
got up about 700 on 20/40 and i was next on list for 40/80 when they decided to open up second game (40/80)
they assured me i would be 1st to move and that the second game would be full....
well it didnt happen we were 5 handed...
very nervous about playing shorthanded, but have plenty of experience playing short handed on line....
we also had an older asian who had been bleeding money all night at the 20/40 , re-raising w/ nothing constantly, calling down everything sitting in on our shorthanded 40/80
played about 2 rounds and i was up another 700 when my name was called for main game(40/80)
they ask me to stay thru the button which I agree 2. I won the next 3 hands w/ killer cards and multiway action, and go to the main game up just under 3g on the night (600 20/40, 2100 in 3 rounds shorthanded 40/80)
got to the main game and found the most straight forward game i had seen all weekend...people actually folded BB to a raise! made 500 or 600 at the main game and just called it a trip and went to bed

uve been hi jacked
hope my experience gives u some insite
sorry if this is 2 much info

have a good trip

Real quick:

Mirage 10/20 plays near .5/1 on party.

20/40 is also pretty terrible and several players constantly tilt.

Bellagio 15/30 is a donk fest.
