Re: Swings make me want to puke.
You just mean the downswings, right? Because the upswings are pretty cool.

I can't [censored] do it. +50bb yesterday -88bb today. Back to 3/6 for me, i'll take another shot in a month or two. Absolutely heartbreaking.

You mean "figuratively." [/ QUOTE ] Nope he has a bucket by the PC But he is right. If he finds it emotionally or physically too difficult to handle the swings then a less swingy game is a good decision trevor |

Re: Swings make me want to puke.
They are large, but what I've seen so far hasn't been hugely different to what i've experienced at other limits swing wise, its just a little more unnerving dropping $400 as opposed to $80, that being said running up $300 in 15 minutes is pretty satisfying.

Re: Swings make me want to puke.
Yeah, it really sucks. For some reason they don't phase me at all anymore. I admit that my play is sometimes affected by it, such as over aggression or a greater than usual willingness to pay off check raises or whatever. But in terms of emotional state I can honestly say I don't flucuate anymore.

Re: Swings make me want to puke.
The -88BB wasn't all at the same table, was it?
I'm finding that I'm MUCH happier if I just run for the hills after losing as little as 15BB at a table if I have ANY doubt about whether it was my play or not. Lots of tables out there, no reason at this point in my Poker Development to play King of the Hill. |

Lots of tables out there, no reason at this point in my Poker Development to play King of the Hill. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed. While you folks are playing higher limits than I am (1/2 5max), I tend to sit with 50BB, and if I see myself down to 25BB or so, I'll pick up and move, 99% of the time without being upset/worried/whatever. I just take the attitude that maybe it was all my fault, maybe it was all variance, or maybe I was just outplayed all the way -- but much, much more often it was probably a combination of all three. Why stick around at a table where you're losing when there are so many other tables (many featuring horrible play by opponents) available? Even the NY Stock Exchange recognizes when its having a really bad day -- it shuts down automatically and lets cooler heads prevail. |

Re: Swings make me want to puke.
!?!?!? the only thing you need to worry about is whether or not the game is good. if I'm stuck 50BB and it's a great table, I'm not leaving. if I'm up 100BB and the game starts to suck, I'm outta there. why would leave a table just because you're stuck?
