Re: Black 99 river action
You're in trouble one of two ways. One is that he has Ax[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and just caught it to beat you. He's probably not going to be folding. The other is if he has TT/JJ. Here he may or may not be folding, but ont he bright side if he's calling with those he may also call with 88/77.
I don't know how the UB games play, but I don't hate a push here, and I also don't hate a check behind. |

I don't think he's calling with a worse hand / folding a better. |

Re: Black 99 river action
So villain has magically put hero on exactly 99 and will call with TT/JJ but not with 88/77/55?

Re: Black 99 river action
I am really torn here between checking behind and betting $20. The decision to value bet on the river is something I believe I need to improve on.
I think A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] X [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] calls the flop bet but not the turn unless he is a donk (very possible, little reads). A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] is rarely folding the turn. So, I'm basically going to include either A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] X [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] or 22, 44-88. 10 10 is a remote possibility, JJ is not. JJ gets raised nearly 100% at UB 50-max. AA outside chance in hindsight. Given that range it is a clear value bet and 'wanna make me puke fold' if he raises. [ QUOTE ] I don't think he's calling with a worse hand / folding a better. [/ QUOTE ] Obviously he's not folding a better hand but I am no longer going to give opponents 'they can't call w/ a worse hand credit' any longer at 50 and 100 max. The decision making is just too poor at times. Thoughts? Edit: Dah, I'm not folding if I value bet the river. I'll only have a few bucks left so I make the crying call there. |

What i meant was that i just don't see any worse hands that will call a river bet, if he's reasonable (he must be thinking hero has missed AK if he's calling down w/ a pair worse than nines and he's not calling w/ a missed flushdraw). Compared to the number of better hands we can get him to fold i don't think a river bet is a good idea. (I hope this makes more sense?) |

Re: Black 99 river action
Why put yourself in a difficult situation here? It's possible this guy has a weak 4 here as well Ax [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Check behind and see the showdown cheap.

Re: Black 99 river action
Thanks for the responses. While my value betting skills need to improve I think I may have been results oriented on this one. I checked behind and villian showed Presto (5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]) and MHIG.
