Default 5/10 live - JJ - Where do I go from here...?

5/10 Rockford Charitable Games - 3/20 Addison, IL

I've played with villain once before and he's the only other solid tag I've seen play 5/10 at RCG. He knows I'm a tag also.

Preflop: EP LP-P limps, MP tag limps, folded to me in BB w JJ I raise, both call.

Flop (6SBs): 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I bet, fish folds, tag calls.

Turn (~4BBs): Blank

I bet planning on folding to a raise, Tag calls.

River (~6BBs): Another blank

I check, tag bets...I really want to fold, but I call.

Comments on all streets appreciated.

-Craig

I like it. I can see why you wouldn't want to bet the river. He might raise with a worse hand just because he knows you can make a laydown. What does he limp with in MP? Most TAG's do this with stuff like PP's and Axs, maybe he does this with QJ or KJ? I think it's a good way to play against a tricky opponent. Your check on the river may indicate weakness, so he bets with a lower PP.

Tough hand. I think calling is the right play on the river. If he is a TAG he's gonna be raising preflop with AK, KQ, KJs. So Kjo and KTs are the only Kings you could put him on. Alot(although not all) of players would raise the turn with a 9 so that is unlikely, but the only 9 I could see him having would be A9s. I think you'll be shown KJo and Kts some here but those are the only hands I see him playing this way that beat you.

you played fine, if he had a K, oh well

i definitely call that river, he might be betting a missed gutshot or something retarded.

Why? What's he going to call with that you have beat? I'd rather check and let him potentially bluff (and avoid being raised by the King or better). I think this has a higher longterm expectation out of position againt THIS PLAYER.
