Default Someone back me up here...

Weekly tournament at my casino...$100 buy-in, 5000 chips, about 100 players. Anyways, about 20 players left, blinds at 1000-2000, I am chip leader at my table with about 45,000. UTG goes all-in for his last 7800...one MPP calls, folded around to me in BB and I have the K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Now I call 5800 more. Now I have a good enough read on my other opponent (about 30,000 left) that he will check this hand down unless he has a lock on the hand. Now we check the hand down and I end up catching a 6 on the river, my all-in opponent had QJ and my other opponent had AQ...now I was berated from my opponents for making what they thought to be a very loose call of an all-in. Most of these players are fairly weak and I wouldn't expect all of them to understand my call...but I still need some backup here. I mean, it's a no brainer call pre-flop right?

Given your read and getting 3 to 1 ish here, I think your play is ok.

It's not a no brainer, but with that read I think the call's OK.

I can't back you up here. Just kidding. I think that with your read on the caller that you've got to make the call for two reasons. 1) He checks it down without the lock, there is an increased chance that you knock the other player out. And 2) If you know you're going to get a free peak at 5 cards with 3-1, man you can't pass that up!

Nice hand!

I like the call.

In general, online or live too, people who berate other players are big morons. Ignore them.

Pardon? He knew he would get to see 3 cards for 1.8 to 1. He had no good reason to expect a second caller, from what I read.

IF his chip lead was big enough, and if he was pretty sure the all-in was pushing any two, it was certainly not an unreasonable call, but it was not a no-brainer.

Yes, he got lucky and won his coin flip, but that does not make this a good long range strategy.

Anyone think the AQ should've just pushed to isolate the SS allin with only 15BBs?

Just curious
