Default I [can potentially save] 15% or more by switching to GEICO!

I just called GEICO for an updated quote and their quote is 33% lower with the same exact coverage as my current auto insurance provider. I gave them my VIN, SS, and answered honestly about insurance claims and tickets. Only thing left is running a check on my DL# which is done after I OK the policy (but done before I cancel the old one).

Called my current AllState agent twice, who never called me back, and then finally got told by one of his assistants that I was SOL until I turned 25 (24 now).

So... does anyone have GEICO horror stories, or should I dump AllState and switch over?

Most of my family who drive use Geico, and they've never complained about it.

Thanks... and I just realized this thread might work better with a poll.

ive heard theyre cheap and cheap for a reason. if you ever file a claim they have some of the worst service in the industry among the major companies.

If every single US driver on OOT doesn't switch to GEICO right now, for me it will be the same outcome as for WackoJacko/MrMcVicker if Party quits doing bonuses....my kids won't be able to eat. Everybody go GEICO and make Berkshire's stock go up!

Sounds pretty accurate. I have heard a couple of horror stories myself that sound like this. With State Farm or Allstate you are paying to have an agent, which may sound like an added expense, but will be well worth it when you have to file a claim.

I disagree. You can buy Progressive without an agent (and therefore usually cheaper), and I don't think anyone has better claims processing than them.

Haven't tried them, can anyone else confirm this?

Actually, I've had two claims in the past and I've never had to speak to my agent.

Good thing too... my agent never returns my phone calls or my dad's phone calls.

I think GEICO might be cheaper because Dennis Haysbert (Former President Palmer on 24) charges less for his commercials than the Gecko.
