technically, no they would take all your money and kick you out. or kill you. i can't remember which. it's almost impossible to do this with 80 million decks nowadays. |

what exactly is illegal? to count altogether, count in the head, count with the help of pen and paper or electronics devices?
I assume most of the counters who have got caugth have used some sort of devices, which to me sounds as much cheating as having Fritz at the table during a chess game. |

So, obviously it's not the counting that's relevant, it's what you do with that information....
If you never vary your bet, I'm sure the casino is more than happy to let you sit there with a pad and pencil from here until next tuesday. |

I had heard of a story where they took a counter's money. What are you going to do about it? It's THEIR money until they give it back to you as far as I know.

card counting technically, no they would take all your money and kick you out. or kill you. i can't remember which. [/ QUOTE ] This is pretty much entirely wrong. Card counting doesn't require you to remember the cards that have been used. You need only change the value of a running count. There are very complex systems available, but there are also some quite simple ones. For some of them, each rank has a value of +1, 0, or -1. You can then adjust your running count to reflect how many decks remain. (In the alternative, you can use something called an unbalanced count, then you don't need to make an adjustment at all.) Card counting isn't in the slightest bit illegal. The people who get barred are simply told that their presence at the blackjack table is unwanted. In the future, they are trespassing, not cheating. It is possible to get "backed off" without getting barred. This is simply a warning. They have not actually read the trespass act against you, and you have not been recorded. I have been backed off, but never barred. They do not take your money when they back you off or bar you. [ QUOTE ] it's almost impossible to do this with 80 million decks nowadays. [/ QUOTE ] It is no tougher to count 8 decks than it is to count 4 or 2. You have no idea what you are talking about. You obviously have never done any counting. The reason why a large shoe is considered less profitable for the player is not that it is more difficult to count, but rather because there are less frequently situations with a player edge. |

[/ QUOTE ] If a U.S. casino did this then they are just stealing from you and assuming you won't make a fuss about it. Card counting is 100% legal. It is also legal for them to bar you from playing. |
