Re: 08 hand... too loose? too aggressive?
preflop: you are getting odds of 17:1 you need to call any hand in this situation.
flop: flopped the nut straight with plenty of redraws. id probably check and make them pay if a blank comes on the turn (i cant believe im telling you this as this is my favorite game on the internet...ps what is your sn?) turn: low hits, i like a check raise as any there will surley be a low out and you want to get rid of the flush draws. river: check and call. hope this helps johnny |

Re: 08 hand... too loose? too aggressive?
No real choice in how you play the hand, except
for the possible check raise on the turn, as suggested earlier. But I'd hate for it to check around, and if it's the guy on your left betting you're building rather than protecting. PF call automatic, BTW. |

fold preflop. [/ QUOTE ] What the hell are you smoking, you complete anything but trips here. Flop good. Turn good. Bet the river and call a raise. |

Re: 08 hand... too loose? too aggressive?
no low draw
no good flush draw only out is a middle straight, and you have only 2 to a straight. how is that a call? I've gotten flack for completing in SB with KK34ds, which doesn't look much weaker than TT92. |

Re: 08 hand... too loose? too aggressive?
Money line - I'd call pre-flop, just as you did.
It's not clear to me what to do on the second betting round. The flopped nut jack high straight is not likely to end up as the nuts for high on the river - and if it does, low will be enabled, so that it's only good for half the pot. In terms of redraws: (1) The straight flush would be sensational, but has a probability of only 44/990. (2) You have only a poor chance for a full house or quads. (3) You have a heart flush re-draw, but the fourth nuts is not good as a direct re-draw. (4) You have no re-draw to a better straight. (5) You have no shot whatsoever at low. By raising, can you get enough opponents to fold so that your jack high straight, even though probably not still the nuts on the river, will end up winning? Will your raise, for example, knock out anyone with a non-nut heart draw, or anyone with less than top set who might be hoping for the board to pair? I think it depends on the post-flop tightness of your opponents. You're the one who has to be the judge of that. 3rd and 4th betting rounds, fine. Just my opinion. Buzz |

You are missing the very importand fact of getting 17-1 on that extra buck he has to throw in.

[/ QUOTE ] Define "plenty of redraws" here. I see one - the 8 of hearts for the straight flush. The way I see it, there's a reasonable chance you're tied with someone on the flop anyway. Bring a low card anywhere and you're quartered. A heart isn't likely to give you the best hand. In fact, assuming that you're alone here with the straight, then you need one high and one low, neither of which is a heart, in order to get half the pot. Two high cards come and you're not a big favorite to win at all. This isn't a hand I'd be super confident about on the flop. |
