Short handed 40-80
I don't play short handed that much but the game was dying down a few players got up and we were left 4 handed. The SB has only been playing for 15 min so I'm not quite sure how he plays. He showed 53o when he stoll the blinds with a button raise but has showed down a good hand or two.
It is folded to the SB and he completes and I just check with Kh 8d. Who raises? Flop: Kd 8h 2h SB checks, I bet, he calls. Turn: 7h (Kd 8h 2h) SB checks, I bet, he raises. who calls who reraises? I just called. River Ts (7h Kd 8h 2h) SB bets, who folds calls raises? |

Re: Short handed 40-80
I'd 3-bet the turn. If he caps or bets into you on the river, I'd just call down.

Re: Short handed 40-80
The only thing I can say is that folding at anytime would be a big mistake and you oughta never play short-handed if you're going to do things like that.

Re: results
Suits him well for slowplaying QQ in the SB. That's one the worst plays I've ever seen, even if it is shorthanded.

Re: Short handed 40-80
You missed a bet or two, top two is a monster heads up. Id have raised before the flop b/c in general that hand is better before the flop than after (ie you may be able to take it right there)
If you didnt 3 bet the turn, you should have check raised the river |

Re: Short handed 40-80
Umm, along the lines of betting those jacks in the QQ/JJ 3-bet post, I think we've grown accustomed to playing terrible players, or are simply being way too aggressive.

Re: Short handed 40-80
This is just not the case.
When someone checks and calls on that flop in a TINY pot, then check - raises the turn, they, too have a super hand or a gutsy bluff, and almost always the former. It is almost always one of the hands below: A set, AA, K with flush draw, top 2, top and bottom. There is no way our hero is a big favorite once the flush card comes. Bottom 2 is not likely, as an 82 will usually fold for a half bet, and is less likely to slowplay. Not reraising the turn is fine, becuae if he does have a worse hand, he might get away from it instead of betting the river. Also, you can raise the river if the flush card does not come, but this is also not automatic. In the hand, since we didn't exactly show a ton of strength earlier, I'd pay it off on the river, but raising is probably a loser, especially if the opponent can now fold 1 pair. Dan Z. |
