Default new to SH, question on some fairly standard plays

Been doing SH for a few weeks and having lots of problems. Just like some comments on this general hand, and if I'm thinking about it correctly. Villain is 54/28/1.6 but only 39 hands. Also, what range of stats would you be or less likely to call this down, or auto-fold, etc.??

Absolute Poker 2/4 Hold'em (3 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Hero raises, 1 fold, BB calls.

Flop: (4.50 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.25 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)BB bets, Hero folds

**If a diamond doesn't hit, do I call or raise or still give him credit for the J? If no diamond and I raise the turn and he calls then checks a blank river, is this generally a good value bet or a free-showdown type of deal. Granted this isn't a whole hand, but I've decided I'm gonna take my learning slowly and start here with some pretty standard hands, just to be sure I'm not analyzing things totally wrong. Thx in advance.

I think you have the right idea on this hand. A check raise does not *mean* he has a J he might put you on overcards and be check-raising any pair here. With the 1. diamond 2. overcard on the turn, I think this is a good fold.

If he thinks you are stealing often he will c/r any pair or even a draw.

Just call down. He's looks like laggy bastard. You'll win more vs those guys with a pair of sevens than youd expect.

Against someone with those stats, I either call down or raise the turn/fold to 3-bet, most likely call down, even on a diamond river. Don't give him credit for a J, Villain has very laggy stats and this is 3-handed so hands w/a J are only a small %age of the range he is c/r'ing you on this flop, which includes a 6, 3, flushdraw, straight draw, or pure air.
