Default Any way to not be crippled in this hand?

About 100 people left in the 16k garuntee, top 70 get paid.
Blinds are T600 and T1200
I've been doing a lot of stealing lately, and the previous hand, I had folded to second stack's reraise preflop.

Edit to include I'm chipleader at the table with about 1k over second place.

I'm UTG with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and raise 2xbb expecting the second stack to come over the top again, which he did, raising me 3x.

I respond by reraising another 3xbb and he flatcalls.

Flop comes Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

I put him all in (which brings me to about 1k) and he shows
A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

I'm effectively crippled when the diamond comes on the river and am blinded off the next hand.

The question is, was there any other way for me to play that hand that I don't get busted? I didn't put him on queens as he was much more agressive with big pockets and I was coming off a string of stealing and gave up to him the previous hand. I feld that everything was in my favor, but what do all of you think?

Reraise all-in preflop.

I agree totally, you made the small pre-flop raise hoping to be re-raised. At that point put him to the test. You want your opponent to call at that point, but if he/she folds to your all-in you still profit with your hand.

If your opponent calls your all-in the cards will fall the same way and that's poker, but you got your chips in the pot with the best of it at that point of the hand.

The only way to avoid losing most of your money on this flop is by making him fold before the flop. However, when you have AA vs. AQs, you do not want him to fold before the flop. Bad luck, it happens.

It looks like he would have called anyway; but next time, you'll feel a lot better about this type of hand knowing you did everything possible to push him off of it by putting him ai.

The flop sucked and so did the turn (or river). That's poker.

Personally, I think that if you knew this chipleader was an overly aggressive player and he would come over the top of you, than I would make sure all the money went in preflop. I feel that if I am going to go broke with Aces, I want to make sure that the aggressive opponent coming over the top of me has to hit a very lucky board to win! If I lose afterwards, it might be leave a bit of sourness for a few minutes but as long as I got the money in before the flop and with the best of it, I'm happy that I made the right play. I suppose it helps to keep in consideration, that if you made the right play than you should not be disappointed in the results.

I'd put all my chips in PF after Op's aggressive re-raise.
Why invite this sort of disaster? AA is not invincible.
