Re: Improve your Poker
Improve Your Poker by Bob Ciaffone is an excellent poker book. I read it several years ago, but I recall it was insightful, easy to read and had overall quality material. It was a book that I read and re-read a few times.
Looking at the book now: The first 100 pages is general poker advice with chapter headings of "Gambling Skills", "Reading Opponents" and "Deception and Bluffing". The 2nd half of the book covers specifica games - Hold'em, Omaha, Stud, Hi-lo split, "big-bet poker" and tournaments. He doesn't cover any of them in-depth as the book is only about 220 pages long. Overall I think it is a solid supplemental reading and I'd recommend it no matter the specific form of poker you are interested in. |

any reviews? thanks for the replies in advance mike [/ QUOTE ] Excellent book. Somewhat similar to the Poker Essay books, because it is a series of essays rather than an instruction book. Not limited to only 1 poker game. |

Re: Improve your Poker
I liked it better than super system when I wanted to expand from just a NLHE player to stud and LHE.
and yes, I learned quite a bit from the bluffing section. Much better than the usual bluffing chapter, which normally goes "umm, bluffing is when you represent a hand... but you dont have it." friggin duh. |

Re: Improve your Poker
I thought this book was much better than the needlessly hyped pot limit book of his. Actually I think this book was great.

Re: Improve your Poker
The book will live up to its title for almost all poker players. It's an excellent supplement to any nuts and bolts poker book. If you want to make your game as strong as possible, I think you have to read it. The content in the book may be available from a number of divergent sources, but it's nice (and way more efficient) to get it all in one place.

Add me to the list saying this book is great, definitely worth the price of admission.

Re: Improve your Poker
If you play PLO, or limit/bigbet holdem, then it's well worth reading. Excellent.

Re: Improve your Poker
The book is really good...however Ciafonne's views on Limit holdem are quite arrogant as he belittles it as an inferior form of poker....
