Default How fast do you play?

Just got to wondering, because I've not really played all that long, about how long you more experienced individuals spend in the "decision making" phase of each round? I mean, I've seen plenty of the "auto choice" instant folds and calls online, and the little clock ticking away always puts a cramp in my stomach when I'm trying to build my fledgling out and pot odds calculations... for live games, I've only played at home with buddies back when I was mostly clueless and we were more concerned with drinking beer and BSing each other.

Just a point of curiosity for me, really.

Hey dude,
First off, good luck getting started playing. Now on to the response...
Online I multitable so I try to use the checkboxes in order to avoid holding up the game, as well as to make other players think quick. I don't know if it actually makes a difference but with heat on people will sometimes make mistakes.
Live I only play drunken NL tourneys with my friends and 2/4 or 3/6 in the casinos. The players in the home tourneys are pretty bad overall but I still try to play my "A" game (or as close as I can while impaired), so sometimes I'll take some time to think but there's also a lot of drunk bantering etc that makes it even longer.
In the casino at the low limits I tend to think quick because I'll make my decisions dased on how many people might be in, if it's raised or not etc, on the action's way around the table. A lot of the older crowd (big in AC) doesn't like to think quick and I've actually found (for some reason) that if I seem to be betting for the hell of it without thinking I get even more dumb calls than usually at the 2/4 tables. Hope this was useful.

Take care,
Matt

Default DISCLAIMER

When I typed the above response I indented every paragraph. Don't know why it didn't show up in the post itself.

8 tabling 2/4, probably 98% of the decisions I make take less than a second. Every 30 seconds or so I'll think for a few seconds, and probably every minute I'll run the clock about halfway down thinking.
