Re: Stop and Go with Aces
The idea of just calling a preflop raise from the BB headsup with aces is for when the raise is legitimate. Here, everyone knows it's a steal raise so a 3-bet is not going to let him put you on AA/KK. He might even cap it for you.

Re: Stop and Go with Aces
Like ? Not really. For what it is worth, I generally am not a big fan of the stopngo, I would rather three bet the flop, or call the flop and checkraise the turn if I thought my opponent wasn't playing for a free card. Given that you smoothcalled preflop, your goal is to get a bunch of bets in on a big bet street. You got two, which is the standard amount. I would have checkcalled the flop, checkraised the turn, and led the river. After you bet out, and call his flop raise, I think you should plan on checkraising the turn. Instead of leading out. He will probably call the checkraise, and if he has anything, call the river bet. Good luck, play well, Bob T. |

Re: Stop and Go with Aces
Hey Trix,
Against an opponent who is aggressive and sometimes overplays his hands, your play was absolutely perfect. I sometimes find myself playing the Button here, and when I do I know it's time to call an end to my session. As soon as you smooth-called preflop, I was hoping you would play it postflop exactly how you did. I like it mucho against a lot of opponents. GoT |
