play at a limit that is above (say 2x) the limit you play that:
a: you can beat b: easily have the roll for c: usually avoid because the monetary swings still bother you then proceed to hit a 150BB+ downsing that actually equates to 300BB's in your usual terms and starts fcuking with your head and makes you feel crappy? so you want to stop, because i guess it puts you on tilt, but shoot you should TRY and make back what you lost. anyone? |

how about play at a limit that is less than 1/2 the limit you comfortably play at, that you played to kill time while waiting to get in another game, and that
a: you can easily beat b: easily have the roll for c: usually avoid because going down in limits is not the direction you want to be going in then proceed to hit a 400BB+ downswing that actually equates to much fewer BB's in your usual terms but completely starts fcuking with your head and makes you feel crappy? so you want to keep playing because you refuse to lose at this level and therefore you end up making no money all month while you try and grind away a huge downswing but get nowhere. anyone? |

we all know you're a good poker player, just play the hands and don't auto-pilot, think about what play is going to get the most money against the mistakes these players make.
You can analize a game's quality, play in good ones and don't play in bad ones. If you're a little pissed but playing well play on, if it's affecting your head, then don't even move down, just take a short break. If you're playing bad move down find a real good game and play well, if you continue to not play well, try harder, if you still don't play well you need a break. This is all real simple stuff, but then again i'm pretty sure you have the poker part of it down. |
