Default Advice Needed on my Local Crazy Pot-Limit Tournament!

Hello All,

This is my first serious post, but before I start I'd like to say thank you to everybody who contributes to this site. My game and results have improved a lot since I started reading the posts here.

The reason why I'm posting is to find out your thoughts on what the best strategy is for the buy-in period at my local casino pot-limit tournament. It's a $10 re-buy tournament with buy-ins for the first 2 hours, but the blind structure is crazy!

You start with 500 chips and the blinds are 50/50 (no small blind) after about one and half hours the blinds go-up to 100! With this structure, you can't just sit there and wait for a good hand, and even if you do get something decent, like QQ, you can guarantee that there will be several people all-in and you will be beaten starting hands like 7 3 off-suit.

Once the buy-in is finished, the game improves considerably and I do pretty decent. I've split first prize a couple of times and it paid for a trip to Vegas last year! Also, the final prizes tend to be quite big becasue of all the re-buys!

The main problem for me is to get out of the buy-in period with a decent amount of chips without spending too much money on re-buys. I've been trying to see flops as cheap as possible with hands that can make flushes and straights, because this is generally what you need to take down a hand. Is there anything else I can do? If I don't get lucky and catch a hand that stands up, I can spend a lot of cash with no return (over the short-term).

Any advice/views at all would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

David.
