two hands against same villain within 5 mins
FIRST HAND: I raise from late position after one limper with A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] villain calls from the BB and limper folds.
Flop (10$) : Q Q 4 Villain Checks Hero Checks Turn: 7 Villain Checks Hero Checks (hoping to induce bluff on river) River: 4 Villain Checks Hero cries and checks and splits with A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I felt like after not betting the flop, a turn check was good because I felt a smaller pair would call me down and It would be in my best interest to just call a bet on the river unimproved. On to hand two. The reason I thought the bluff would be good is because he saw me check down the AK on a paired board, so I would have to have an overpair here. Re: two hands against same villain within 5 mins
I can't see why you didn't bet the flop in hand one. Since you didn't, the rest of the hand is fine.
You would do better in representing a strong overpair by making a stronger raise in hand two; at least pot-sized. Make it $40 to go. If you're played back at you'll have to go ahead and make a "tough fold." |

Re: two hands against same villain within 5 mins
I would never check the first hand.
I like the idea that you now bet with nothing on the second hand representing overpair. But if you're going to make that bluff... and reraise his reraise, you have to bet more then $10. I think it'll cost you more the way you did it (raising $10 on the flop and then $35 on the turn... better to raise to an additional $30 on the turn and hope to take it down on the flop. You have a better chance of taking it there and if not, you slow down and you saved $15.) Just my guess. |
