With antes I think this is an easy push, even without antes I still think its a push.

what range of hands would you put UTG+1 on? 88-AA and AJo+? possibly KQ?

Don't know you tell me, however its not as important as you might think. Its your stack size that is the key consideration.

His range doesn't really matter (it does, but only in the sense that you are guaranteed to be a dog to it) so much as the fact that a push is getting called.

Taking a flip would obviously be OK for your 8 BB stack, but I think overall you're a big dog against a solid player's range up there (let's put it this way: this is something speculative that's still a favorite over you like QJs, *or* a monster.) Oh, and there's MP3, who has a 50K stack and likes seeing flops.

Normally the implied odds aren't there for you to see this flop, but with a loose guy in, another guy who's got a good chance of having aces up front, and the occasional 654 flop you will also like, you can just barely make this limp with position. Obviously, if a blind pushes and it's folded to you, you call.

In short, hit a set and hope he has aces.

pushes and it sucks when UTG+1 calls with AA or whatever he limped with.

UTG+1 didn't have a pair...but even when he had what I wanted him to have, overcards, I wasn't exactly in great shape when he called with AQ and spiked his ace. MP3 folded.

In short, I got probably the best case scenario...but I was still running a race. I guess I wonder if a muck is better with a solid player limping early, and maybe push in a different spot...
