STILL lagging with new comp
So I finally got a new comp, with all the goodies (P4 HT, 1GB RAM, 7200RPM HD), and the CPU STILL maxes out when I run 4-5 tables (especially Crypto), PT and GT+. Any suggestions?

Re: STILL lagging with new comp
Turn off autorate in PT. If you must use autorate, then at least turn it off for yourself, since you will have 10's of thousands of hand histories on yourself.
Upgrade GT+ to the latest (1.4.1), which has major performance improvements. Those two things should do the trick. I 4-table with just an Athlon 1.3 GHz CPU, with no problems. -- Kevin |

Re: STILL lagging with new comp
maybe also making sure that you are getting rid of the old histories into some 'deleted HH' file.
as well as configuring the auto-HH on party/empire to only keep them for 1 day. However, I still have slow-down problems too and am still trying to figure it out. Sometimes it runs great....but then it will suddenly be REALLY slow during the imports. I could be on a brand new database in p-tracker and have played only 20 hands and it will slow-down....or sometimes I could be on a big database in ptracker and have played 3000 hands that day and it still moves fairly quickly. I've recently noticed that it seems to slow-don sometimes if i bring up a page on firefox at the same time or something like that. still working on it. But I typically have to re-boot my computer once or twice per extended session when everything gets too painfully slow. It's really freaking annoying. |
