Default Pot size question, Live NL.

Is the dealer "obligated" to spread the pot if asked, or is it more like one of those things where if you ask and no1 objects it is allowed. Quite a few times ive asked teh dealer to spread teh pot in the 5/5nl game at foxwoods, just to eyeball it and sometiems regulars ahve admonished me for this. They told me it is my job to keep track of the pot size and asking the dealer to spread it isnt allowed.

Dealers are to keep their hands OUT of the pot as much as possible. Counting down a pot in NL is strictly against the rules in most cardrooms. If you want to know the pot size, remember the bets and add em up.

The only time a dealer is to let players know the pot size is in Pot limit games.

Technically, no. They are to keep their hands out of the pot for surveilance and security purposes.

Basically, unless it's PL, they shouldn't be touching the pot after the rake is taken and util it's pushed. (except to bring chips is obviously).

Hmm the reason this gets to be a problem for me at the fw game is cuz it plays real deep and u never know if theres a couple black chips buried inside the pile of green. Can you ask the dealer to keep the black chips visible and not buried?

At the Wynn in Las Vegas, the dealer is actually not allowed to count down the pot in NL if you ask. If you can't keep track, just go back through all the betting rounds and add it up.

[/ QUOTE ]this is not just the wynn, its everywhere. im from the south and when i play in a local NL game (rare), ppl are constantly asking how much is in the pot... often the dealers dont even know there arent allowed to say... i have to effing to tell them! ppl down here play PL.
spreading the pot is not counting the pot and i belive this is/should be allowed. i checked back this thread bc i am not familiar with NE cardrooms or live NL in general too much and was wondering if someone knew 100%...
