good or bad lay down
Recent hand I played at a 3/6 table at Commerce Casino in L.A. I thought I made a good lay down but everyone at table disagreed.
I was in middle position with AT offsuit and everyone folded to me. I elected to bring it in for a raise. I got one caller in late position as well as the BB. The flop came A Q 7 rainbow. BB checked and I bet out. The late position player called and the BB check raised. The BB was a loose player but not a reckless player. I thought about some of the hands he could have check raised with and decided I was out either out kicked, up agaist two pair or a set. I folded and the late position player called. The turn was a Ten (giving me two pair had I stayed in) and the river a duece. The late position player called all the way and on the showdown the BB showed Q7 for two pair to take down the pot. Everyone at the table was completely baffled by my lay down...especially considering I already had three dollars in on the flop and only had to put another three in. I thought it was a good laydown but am I wrong? Badboy |

Without even reading the hand, that makes it a bad lay down. OK, I read the hand now. It's really bad. You'll have the best hand a lot of the time and when you're behind you'll often have have 5 or 6 outs and pick up another 3 on the turn. Also, why the heck would you tell everyone at the table what you laid down? |

Re: good or bad lay down
yuck, no way should you lay down there, there a lot of hands that you have beat the BB might c/r, including second pair or a weak A...he might put you on a steal depending on how late you were.
even if he has two pair you still have outs to counterfeit... |
