[/ QUOTE ] I'd call in a heart beat. If he is purposely playing the hand to look like he wants you to fold he might be half smart. But then if he was half smart, why would he mini-raise? Indeed. |

That long pause may mean he is trying

Re: 10s vs a MIN RIASE pf
You make this awful hard on yourself by just coldcalling the PF minraise. Reraise him to $3-4 or so. If he comes over the top again, then you lay it down unless he gives you set value. If not, then your tens are probably good as an overpair. It's a lot cheaper to find this out preflop then on the flop or turn. Barring your current situation, I'd say he has an overpair to your TT and is milking you for what you're worth. The stop n go usually means a monster and I tend to believe it more often than not. Lay it down.

i laid it down.
as far as not reraising with the 10s, i usually just play them to flop a set in a 25nl game. dunno what the guy had. |

Re: 10s vs a MIN RIASE pf
I've noticed two types of min raises online: there's players who min-raise AA to build a pot (foolishly), and then there's players who min-raise marginal hands like QK, A9, and 88 (even more foolishly).
I don't like re-raising TT pre-flop. If this player does have AA, he'll pay it off if a T comes on just about any board. If this player is raising a marginal hand, he'll pay it off if he pairs and you hit your set. And if he just calls the pre-flop re-raise, do you think you're up against AK or AA? I don't think it gives you enough information to make it worthwhile. I admit that it does put him in this quandary, but I'd say that you're just looking to play for set value, nothing more. After the jack falls, I'd be looking to check/call. It's unlikely it helped him, but a pair of tens isn't really that good a hand by the turn. You've represented strength the whole hand and the opponent pushes the river. If it's a bluff, it takes a lot of guts to push the river after calling down half his stack on what would have to be overcards. No, this looks to be the play AA or 77 would make. |
