OOP Set faces 3-flush on turn. What is standard?
Not an actual hand, but a typical situation I've run into.
assume .25/50 blinds also, I'd like thoughts on how to handle this with short-stacks (40-50 BB) and with average stacks (100BB+) Hero is OOP with pocket pair ( 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ) Preflop is reasonable... say: Hero limps MP2 raises to 1.50 MP3 calls Hero calls. Flop comes ($5ish): 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero leads for $4-$5 MP2 calls MP3 folds Turn: ($15ish): 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero??? What's my standard line here: (a) with a 40-50BB short stack.... say I started with $20, and now I'm down to about $13 left (b) with a average 100BB stack... ??? For (a)... if the other player is aggressive, is it always better to try to attempt a check-raise on the flop? Or should I always be betting this? Thanks! |

you want to get all your money in as soon as possible

Re: OOP Set faces 3-flush on turn. What is standard?
I always like to bet this flop because a check raise can really make a thinking player stop and and possibly fold his TPGK or such. By betting you give them a chance to raise you, which you can then go over the top and it makes it much tougher for them to let their hand go.

Re: OOP Set faces 3-flush on turn. What is standard?
I almost always bet out this flop for the reasons you stated.
My main question from this thread though was what to do on the -turn- when the 3rd club hits. Thoughts? Push w/ a small stack? Lead out 3/4 pot w/ average stack? |

push if youre a shorty, 3/4 if youre not.

If he just flat calls a 3/4 bet on the turn then whats the plan for the river, assuming you don't fill up and no club hits? Also, I assume if he raises the 3/4 pot bet on the turn you fold.

And what's the plan if the club does hit? (Which it usually does for me)

Re: OOP Set faces 3-flush on turn. What is standard?
If that last club does hit you have to consider his range, he called all the way, what are you reasonably against?
It would make the decision easier for me, but I'm weak tight. Cambraceres |
