infuriating move from the the solid, occasionally LAG opponent
Yesterday, I found myself against an opponent who generally showed all the tendencies of a solid TAG, with one notable exception: every now and then, when someone raised or reraised pf and there a couple of people already committed to seeing the flop, he would raise or cap with a completely silly hand, such as K2. As luck would have it, he ended up hitting 2 pair each time (or each time I noticed). Because no one could put him on the hands he actually had, he ended up raking in big pots.
What do you think of this approach? |

always good to mix it up a bit, but he usually won't make a hand, and other people might catch on. how often does he have to win the hand for this to be +EV?

Don't let your opponents infuriate you.
He's almost certainly losing value by playing this way in LHE. Metagame effects just aren't worth it when most players aren't paying attention anyway, and the ones that are aren't really going to change their play based on a couple hands when they see that the guy has solid pokertracker stats. |
