I don't see any other way to play this. Betting the turn is probably good if your opponent is the type to call the flop with any number of things and then fold the turn or continue to draw with marginal hands you might be beating.

IMO if he's passive enough that you can safely fold to a river bet UI after checking the turn behind, I don't mind doing so. against most opponents, I'll play this the same way.
