2 Overpair Hands; compare differences
Live $1-$2, 8-handed
Hand 1: UTG (~$500) Hero (~$220) UTG is the rich straddling LAG from my previous examples. He just sat down a couple rounds ago and has already stacked an opponent with a flopped set. He's still in his calm stage and I'm waiting for the beast to wake up. His calling range from the straddle is still huge. Hero is MP2 with 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Preflop: UTG straddles to $6, folds, Hero raises to $15, folds, UTG calls Flop: ($33) 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG bets $25, Hand 2: UTG (~$75) Hero (~$200) UTG typically buys short and is quite tight. I have rarely, possibly never, seen him get out of line. Hero is MP1 with Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Preflop: UTG raises to $6, folds, Hero raises to $15, folds, UTG calls Flop: ($33) J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG bets $20, |

Re: 2 Overpair Hands; compare differences
hand one: reraise to see if he just missed the flop or he's got an overpaid.
hand two: probably looking a the set of jacks or AJ/KK/AA.. you're probably beat more than you're ahead against this player. fold (can't believe im saying this ). |

Re: 2 Overpair Hands; compare differences
Hand 1: Raise and slow down if called/raised - you're ahead of 77/88/x3/Overcards and behind AA-TT/33/x6. If he's LAG, he may lead with overcards to see what you're up to.
Hand 2: Unless he's the type that doesn't reraise AA/KK pre-flop, reraise all-in. If he got lucky and caught his set, oh well - stacks didn't give him odds. If he'll never call the pre-flop reraise with AJ, that lends more to folding, but I don't think I could. |

Re: 2 Overpair Hands; compare differences
Hand 1: Your options are Call, Min-raise or bump it to $75. I like calling here so you can get more info on the next street. Min-raise screams over-pair, but if he comes over top or bets the next street, he probobly has a 6. He probobly folds to aggression unless he has something. Will you tell us what happened?
Hand two: He probobly has KJ or AJ...could you see dollar signs in his eyes? Value call because I think he will bet the next street again. Did I just tell you to slowplay two big hands? Maybe I am weak passive. |

Re: 2 Overpair Hands; compare differences
Hand 1:
Hero folds Hand 2: My gut said to fold. So... Hero calls Turn: ($73) 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG bets $20, Hero pushes ($22 more for UTG), UTG calls River: ($157) T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG shows KK. |

[ QUOTE ]
hand one: reraise to see if he just missed the flop or he's got an overpair. hand two: probably looking a the set of jacks or AJ/KK/AA.. you're probably beat more than you're ahead against this player. fold (can't believe im saying this ). [/ QUOTE ] I agree on both counts. Hand 1, Villian will be leading with any overs, any 3, any two spades, and any 6. If I raise, he will push with a 6, and call anything else (except he may fold a 3). Hand 2, I agree with your fold (ignoring results, as I though this was correct at the table). I'm only ahead of AK, knowing this player. And I don't think he'll lead with AK much of the time. |
