Hand One from the Monkeyfest (aka. $3.00 rebuy)
Hi all,
I played about 18 hours in Saturday's $10k guaranteed, and still didn't get very deep in the money, but I'd like to post a few hands, and see what y'all think. I need to remember how little folding equity you have in these things. Hand one: PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx UTG (t13152) UTG+1 (t13525) MP1 (t13150) MP2 (t35392) MP3 (t2818) CO (t30234) Hero (t12650) SB (t15999) BB (t25781) Preflop: Hero is Button with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG calls t150, 5 folds, Hero raises to t600, 2 folds, UTG calls t450. Flop: (t1425) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG checks, Hero bets t800, UTG calls t800. Turn: (t3025) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG checks, Hero bets t2150, UTG calls t2150. River: (t7325) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG bets t1350, Hero Initially I put this guy on a draw of some sort, though in this thing it can be hard to tell. Anyone give up on the turn? What is your move on the river? |

I fold pf. maybe limp. i bet the flop and most likely slow down on turn because this early there are no reads since you cant judge ne1 from rebuy period usually unless they r extremly tight. if i check the turn i might call a small river bet but ithink with the way it played i fold the river, i only c folding or pushing the river fwiw

[/ QUOTE ] i fold preflop. barring that, i give up on the turn. you have no pair, no draw, so you're on a pure bluff -- why do you want to bluff here? the drawbacks outweigh the gains, in my opinion. you have plenty of chips relative to the blinds, so i'd pick a better spot than this to accumulate chips. as for the river, you're almost certainly beat, but you're getting better than 6 to 1 on a call, so i have a hard time folding. |

Re: Hand One from the Monkeyfest (aka. $3.00 rebuy)
18 hours? Seems like an embellishment. Fold or limp pf, A9o is a powerhouse or anything even close, against a limper UTG I am gone here. Moving on anyway. I check behind on the flop and see a turn, you are in a position against an admittedly weak opponent so give yourself a free card. Q comes on the turn, if he bets more than 1/2 the pot I lay it down, any small bet I am raising and laying down to a reraise or c/f'ing the river unless it is an A where I might call a smallish river bet.
