$3/$6 stud hi hand
So after encouragement from a friend I decided to take a shot at $3/$6, and this is the only hand that stands out. Should I have played this any differently? (Results later)

Re: $3/$6 stud hi hand
Obviously, the river is the only interesting street. In position, I'd probably just check it (though maybe bet it against the biggest of calling stations). If you're first to act, however, you would want to bet the end here. This is because if villian has two pair, he will bet for value if you check knowing your aces didn't improve. He will check behind lower pairs. So you bet to protect against this (ie: you may get called by a worse pair and two pair won't raise). But in position, I'm probably just checking it out here.

I would consider betting the river, but you played it just fine. This was your most interesting hand?

No pot reached 10 BB in the hour and a half I sat at the table (perhaps instead of reading TOP and 7CSFAP over again I should work on my table selection skills). Basically the play up to this hand consisted of stealing antes often enough to stay even. Perhaps I was just looking for reassurance in my play, as often my opinions when discussing the $5/$10 hands and $30/$60 hands seem to be diametrically opposed to the experts in this particular forum. For the record (2J)2 was his starting hand and he hit a J on 7th. |
