80/160 Hand... standard play against a good LAGGGGY player
7-handed as part of a mixed game.
Under the gun with KQ spades, folded to villian a very LAGGY player who plays very well post-flop. Having played against him much live however i know he is a winner in the Stars 100/200 game. We had played together a couple times, usually short-handed. I had been playing relatively tight lately (mostly in stud-- this was the 2nd hand in this round of holdem) Villian isolates me on the button. I call. Flop: Q J 7 (2 diamonds). I bet, he raises. I decide to just call. (and this is not because I think i dont have the best hand. Turn: 9 diamonds. I bet. He raises. I call. River: I check, He bets, I call. Thoughts? |

Re: 80/160 Hand... standard play against a good LAGGGGY player
When I take this line, I usually wish I had folded to the river bet. But he's a lag so I call without even thinking about it. Then I wish I had folded when I see his AQ. Why do lags get dealt good hands too???
I'll be interested to read other's thoughts on this hand. |

i def threebet this flop... keep the heat on and punish this autoraise.
rest of the hand looks ok... im not gonna say lay it down on the river bc i dont know this guy and you have TP so that may be a little too much. |

Hero has been playing very tight. 3 betting the flop and betting out turn might fold out a hand he is way ahead of, or if he's way behind costs him an extra 1/2 bet to get to showdown when turn raised like he was here. The turn donk bet is cheaper and encourages all sorts of bad calldowns from the lag, maybe even a bluff/overplay raise on the turn as hopefully happened here. Nigel |

my personal opinion, this lag maybe hold AdXd. He test your hand. If you held a Q, your bet was not enough.

I check. He thinks for a while and checks behind and says "Jacks no good". I show my queen and he mucked. Later, someone at the table saw him fold JT.

[/ QUOTE ] Against someone else, I definitely three-bet. I call was for a couple reason. One, I wanted to encourage more action on later streets, especially a turn bluff since I was pretty sure that his raise was more a sign of weakness than strength. Of all the possible hands I put him on, AQ was not one of them. Of course this plan gets more complicated when the ultimate scare card comes on the turn. |

Re: 80/160 Hand... standard play against a good LAGGGGY player
I like the play on all streets. Let him keep firing into you with what probably amounts to a semibluff. Villain is very capable of holding Adx, Kdx, possibly a ten. River is a good check, although with another non-LAGgy opponent I would value bet this.
