ATo trips top kicker vs pf capper
Okay, the villains in this hand COULD be quite enthusiastic about the game of poker, but I'm not sure.
CO: 17 hands, 76 vpip, 35 pfr, 1.75 ag UTG: 12 hands, 42 vpip, 17 pfr, 0 ag I don't have any other information about them, because I was busy reading Droolie's post on paying attention to the game. (Seriously!! Final Pot: 21.25 BB -------------- I have a tendancy to think about playing a hand vs lags in terms of "How many bets do I want to get into the pot?" I come to this decision based on whether villain is just a lag or a true maniac, and on the strength of my hand and my position, the board, and how much strength has been shown preflop by the villain. Do you guys think I played the turn too aggressive, too passive, or "just right"? Also, If I had have had more hands (500 hands, say) and identical stats on the UTG raiser, should I have three-bet with ATo, or folded? --Dave. |

Re: ATo trips top kicker vs pf capper
I like the isolation raise preflop.
I slow down to the turn raise usually, but that may be giving this guy way too much credit. Edit: Actually with your read coming from only 12 hands, I'm not sure we can trust the numbers. This may actually push this closer to a preflop fold. With these same numbers over 500 hands, I think an isolation raise is good. |

Re: ATo trips top kicker vs pf capper
I think you should fold ATo, even UTG raises many hands PF.
1)UTG might have better hand than you 2)Someone after you could have premium hand 3)If you miss flop, you dont know are you ahead or not. And even you do hit A or T you dont know where you stand. Do you know what kind of hands UTG raises at PF? Or does UTG understand important of position at all? |

Re: ATo trips top kicker vs pf capper
Fold preflop. There's nothing about UTG's stats to suggest that his raising standards (UTG no less) are out of line.
The rest is fine. |

Re: ATo trips top kicker vs pf capper
That's too few hands to be forming an opinion based on stats. If I sit down at a table and have a really good run of hands my stats could easily look like the first guys. So lets assume he's a decent player on a great run of cards, (if we go on the maniac theory then we can't put him on anything because he could have anything).
Would a good player cap preflop with QT against two opponents? Not very likely. QQ? Very possible. That said I think I play it the same. When deciding to isolate 3 bet you have to also think of the players behind you. If after 500 hands BOTH of these players stats are identical, then I wouldn't do it. |
