should Stars follow Party and also ban P-Edge ?
Today P-Edge added Pokerstars and they will soon offer support for a lot of other sites. Should all poker rooms do same than Party and close accounts for using it ?? What do you think ?
And why so many players never got a warning from Party and still can use it, while others already got their accounts closed ? ( ok not a question anybody could answer here...just wondering) |

Yes close them down, but only if good and fair warnings are given beforehand, as we are talking PokerStars I'm sure they would do this anyway.

Yes. Get rid of it. Shared databases cross the invisible ethical line in my eyes.

Yes. Get rid of it. Shared databases cross the invisible ethical line in my eyes. [/ QUOTE ] It is not really invisible. In poker there has long been the standard of one person per hand. When you use PT you are using information that you yourself have collected to assist your decisions. When you use pokeredge you are using information collected from many others. Thus violating the one person per hand standard. I think the gray area with PT is the ability to import and use observed hands. I would like to see this done away with from a fairness standpoint. |

I don't mean to start a war over this, just pointing out another angle (I don't even use PE). Would you also so that it's wrong for a friend to give you info on how a person plays? If you play at a casino and your friend is going for the first time, you'd probably point out the fish/sharks that are there which (from what I understand) would be the same as PE helping you find a good table.
The difference between this and PE is that PE is (I'm assuming) acessed during a hand so it would more be like giving your buddy a list of people and he'd look through it when he needed to. |

It doesnt tell you who the sharks and the fish are. It gives you fairly detailed stats about how that person plays.
Its very very different from a friend pointing out the sharks in our local casino. I agree with the observed hands comment too, datamining hands yourself is borderline in my eyes - i dont do it and i wouldnt shed a tear for anyone if sites banned it. Phill |

[/ QUOTE ] Except, as most PE users will tell you, pointing out sharks is the core of PE's value, not the details stats. Detailed stats are mostly useless. On fish you don't care, on sharks they're simply going to tell you what you already know...sharks are dangerous. So, having a friend point out sharks would be exactly the live equivalent of PE. |

Yes, people who use PE are lazy cheaters with no respect for the game.
IMHO. |

Detailed stats are mostly useless. [/ QUOTE ] I dont know how you use your stats, but mine are pretty helpful. I only use PokerTracker but all the stats are useful and go well beyond what you could get from a friend pointing out the sharks in a casino. Position based play and aggression factor for one are HUGE. |
