50/100 Deep Stack Weird River
5 handed, hand vs. icebreaker again we have something like 18k a piece. he limps, i raise pot to 450 with KK, will do this often he calls. flop is
kc jc 7h, he check calls my pot bet. turn is 4, he check/calls pot bet river is 9s, he checks. pot is 5k or 5.5k something like that we have 15 or 16k left beind. i have a hard time putting him on a hand that will call a decent sized value bet, and if he c/r me all in on this huge pot i will [censored] my pants. thoughts on river? |

Re: 50/100 Deep Stack Weird River
checking behind on this river would be the weakest thing i've seen, maybe, ever. fair enough if he check raises you it will suuuuuuuck, but can you really not put him on an AK KQ type hand? or even a pocket pair or anything?
i don't know, it seems like if you raise to 450 a lot and could have anything, he has trouble putting you on a huge hand. therefore for him to check call with TQ assumes huge implied odds and he'd have to put you ona big hand to just call down with that, thus i think he'd probably raise with TQ given the range of hands you have. given that, i'd def value bet this river for at least half pot, and if you make a weakish value bet to get a J or even a PP to call, be prepared to call a big check raise. i'm probably betting half pot on river and calling a check raise. given your range of hands i don't put him on QT. it's a possibility but i think if you bet weak it might induce a bluff check raise from mid pair, missed clubs, or even a real check raise from a weaker set, who the F knows. |

Re: 50/100 Deep Stack Weird River
A pot bet seems to be a bad idea here, how bout a 1/3 pot bet , and call a raise, or an all-in overbet to look like a missed draw? I like the overbet better. I think checking behind loses immense value here .

There's exactly one hand that beats you, Bruiser; I think not putting in any money on the river is criminal. Pot it again, and call a raise.

Re: 50/100 Deep Stack Weird River
with what plan diablo? i can't put him on a hand that will call. i think i shoul dhave bet 1500 and called a raise because my biggest chance of getting money is it if he bluffs not if he has a decent hand to call with. ice breaker doesn't give loose action, its hard to put him on a decent hand, and it's doubtful that's he'll really ever bluff here on the river either...

i like 2500-3000 and i think you would be ok calling an allin -- though it would suck
