party poker 50/100 - AQ on the button
villain in this hand is a 27/18/1.3 with a 55% attempt to steal after a few hundred hands. his postflop play has been reasonable so far.
villain openraises 3 off the button. i 3-bet on the button with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. the blinds fold. the flop is A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] villain checks and i bet. the turn is K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] villain checks, i check. the river is 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. villain bets, i call. |

Re: party poker 50/100 - AQ on the button
I think you can get away with a raise on this river...maybe with a fold to a 3-bet...I dunno. I love the turn check though, as I don't think a guy like this would play a flush draw passively on AKx flop.

Re: party poker 50/100 - AQ on the button
see, the thing with this play is you have the right idea, but executed at the wrong time...
these plays have to be saved for use when the following conditions are ALL met: 1) you are either way ahead or way behind (you have either very few outs or opponent has very few outs) 2) you will get a fold if ahead and a c'r if behind 3) you can't fold to the c'r b/c its an agressive player but are beat a vast majority of the time. see, this spot doesn't match condition #2. he will call all the way down with any ace he raised with preflop. bet the turn. -Barron |

standard [/ QUOTE ]hell no, not for me. you think he has a K? dont you think its alot more likely he has an A? river is an easy raise after checking the turn, but i think betbetbetcallcallcall is best. |

Re: party poker 50/100 - AQ on the button
I don't think a river raise has much value. It feels a little wrong but after thinking it through I think I just call too.
I agree with Barron about the turn, though. There are times to check the turn, and I just don't see how this is one of them... especially when *you* get value from so many of his checkraises. I vote bet. |

Re: party poker 50/100 - AQ on the button
I consider this standard also, since this flop play doesn't say Ace to me at all. It says K.
I play it the same way, and snap off considerable river bluffs. JimmyV |

IMO you should only do this if you plan on raising the river.

Re: party poker 50/100 - AQ on the button
Good analysis imo. I bet the turn for the same reason.
