2/4 holdem question/problem, please comment
Party 2/4 4 handed. im in the BB and both players fold the small blind who completes. I raise with AA
he calls Flop: 5c-Jc-6h He checks, i bet, he calls Turn: Qd CHeck, Bet, Call River: 5d Check, I bet, HE RAISES, I hesitate and call My question is..... can one make a case here for just checking behind on the river? i think its wrong but 2) once he check rasies you, is there any point to calling? was calling wrong? what would he checkrasie me with that didn't beat me? its VERY UNLIKELY that he would check rasie me with out trip fives so is it even worth it to call here. i need feedback from experienced winning players on this one. |

You played it fine. He could have just a jack, just a queen or something like QJ that you sucked out on. I'm sorry your aces lost.

You've gotta bet river. In many cases he will pay you off with top or middle pair. As for calling the raise.. You're probably beat but I know I could never lay this down

Jesus man! Calm down! Take a deep breath.
You have to bet here. You have to call the raise here. Too many times you will be making a big mistake and losing the entire pot (in error.) Look at it this way, if he has a 5 then he's calling you all the way down with bottom pair (YOU WANT THIS.) If he had two pair on the turn then he probably could've made a lot MORE money (considering what you had.) If a Jack or Queen comes on the river then you can consider checking behind. -Halis Keep it up. |
