Hold\'Em: What Are the Raising Hands Based on PFR %
For Texas Hold'Em:
Can anyone direct me to a chart or source that lists what hands someone is likely to be raising with preflop based on their preflop raising percentage? |

Re: Hold\'Em: What Are the Raising Hands Based on PFR %
I don't think such a thing exists. A straightforward player will raise preflop with strong hands, like high pairs, because these play best against a small number of opponents. Knowing that, many people will raise preflop because they want people to think they have high pairs.
Also, of course, you have to consider the position of the raise, the other bettors in the hand and the general practice of the table. How often does the player call pre-flop, and how often does he bluff? Does he like certain kinds of hands? Subject to all that, I would say that if a guy raises pre-flop with fewer than 5% of his hands, he's probably raising on pairs. 4.1% of the time he'll have a pair of 6's or higher. The next most attractive hands to raise preflop are unsuited A's with the second card of 6 or higher. You'll get these 7.2% of the time. If he raises pre-flop more than 11.3% of the time he could be either raising on suited Ace combinations, or lower pairs or unsuited Aces with 5 or lower. He might be doing it on unsuited King highs. More likely, he's semi-bluffing (holding smaller suited connectors) or bluffing (holding nothing). Even more likely than either, he's just a loose player who has no idea what he's doing. |

Is "Poker Edge" the software most people are using? I thought it was "Poker Tracker".
