Default Rebuy/Addon tourney question

When you reach the first break, where you have your last opportunity to buy your addon. Is it automatic?

Do you make your decision based on your stack relative to the avg size?

For example the average stack in the the tourney I was in was ~ 8k. My stack was ~10k. Does it make sense for me to buy the additional 2k in chips?

Thanks in advance.

The only time I don't add on is if I've got a TON of chips, and the 2K isn't going to make a big difference.

For instance, I've got 30K, next biggest on my table is 12K, and I'm in the top 5 in chips period.

I am not positve, but I believe that it is correct to add on unless you have 10% of the chips in play.

This, of course, depends on the cost and amount of add-on, but unless its anything out of the ordinary, I believe the above statement to be true.

Don't ask me to prove the math though

For what it is worth even if I have the chip lead after the first hour, I add on. You never know when those extra chips will come in handy.
