Do you raise ths blocking bet?
I wasnt sure what to do when he lead out with that blocker on the river. I doubted seriously that he had a Q, but I couldnt put him on a hand so I just called. What do you think?

Re: Do you raise ths blocking bet?
I would just call. I'm not that worried about a Q, but I think JT is a more likely possibility, and I don't think you get called here by a worse hand very often.

Re: Do you raise ths blocking bet?
I think raising this blocking bet is not a great play, but it depends on Villain. People fire blocking bets with the intention of not calling a raise. It takes a lot to raise with a naked AK or mid pair there, so Villain will probably put you on a great hand, and realize his lower pocket is not good here.
Moreover, there is one hand (JT) which could realistically be here that would call the raise. It would be hard to get away from that hand here. One thing that is nice about your position is you can safely fold to a reraise all in. So if Villain is a loose caller and would call a raise with JJ or TT, I would lean towards raising here. I would say JJ, TT, and JT are the most likely hands you're up against. |
