STILL TRYING TO FIND OUT ABOUT PACIFIC POKER - ANYONE?
After 2 phone calls a week apart and 2 completely different answers, I sent the following note to their support personnel. I will post their reply when I get it, but in the meantime, has anyone heard anything at all???
Here is the note I sent: Last Tuesday, 12/14/04, I placed a phone call asking what had happened to the .10/.20 tables. I was told that a software upgrade was being installed and that those tables would be available "in a couple of days". I have NOT seen them active at all and it has now been about a week. This morning I called and asked the same question and I received a totally different response this time. The response I was given is that your software crashes due to the high number of people playing on the 10 cent/ 20 cent tables and that, therefore, they would only be available for a limited amount of time every day. I FIND THIS VERY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND! Can anyone please tell me what is REALLY going on here? Have the tables been removed permanently? If so, please let your telephone support people know. If NOT, please tell me when you expect to have these tables available again, and please, once again, let your telephone support people know. Thank you. |

GOT MY ANSWER from PACIFIC...no more .10/.20 tables
Here is the response I received regarding my original post on the disappearance of the .10/.20 tables at Pacific.
I have already emailed them. If anyone else is interested, please send your note to support@pacificpoker.com [ QUOTE ] Dear Dave, Thank you for contacting us. I am sorry that you seem to have been given conflicting information on this issue by a few of our Representitives. I can tell you that the $.10/20. tables have been removed in order to free up bandwidth for the general release of PL/NL games. However this is dependant on what sort of feedback we get from our members. If we get enough emails requesting that they be reinstated we will put them back (at the expense of another table type) I have passed on your comments to the person in charge of this decision. However I can tell you that we have no immediate plans to change our policy on this issue. I hope I have answered your questions. If you require further assistance in this or any other matter, please feel free to contact us. We are here for you 24 hrs a day, everyday. Regards, Leighton Member Support Representative Pacific Poker [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: GOT MY ANSWER from PACIFIC...no more .10/.20 tables
Bandwith? That seems to be one of the problems where throwing money at the issue will easily make a difference. Maybe poker sites (apart from the top 1-3?) are not as profitable as we would like to believe?

Re: GOT MY ANSWER from PACIFIC...no more .10/.20 tables
yes, they must make a TON of moola on a .10/.20 ring game as opposed to some stupid NL tables.

Re: GOT MY ANSWER from PACIFIC...no more .10/.20 tables
Oh, I forgot that they couldn't have both at the same time.
No, wait, come to think of it, my point was exactly that they *could* have both! |

Re: GOT MY ANSWER from PACIFIC...no more .10/.20 tables
uhhhh.... yeah. I think you said they needed to "throw money" at the problem of providing additional bandwidth.
So what would the ROI of this thrown money be when it is used to provide .10/.20 tables? Might be better to keep the money invested elsewhere. |

Re: GOT MY ANSWER from PACIFIC...no more .10/.20 tables
Actually woudldn't they be throwing money in to expect an ROI from the pl/nl tables?

Re: GOT MY ANSWER from PACIFIC...no more .10/.20 tables
No, they already have PL/NL tables. Obviously at some point they had extra bandwidth. What to do? Well, let's throw some .10/.20 tables on there, don't make much, but it's something. Then when they upgraded and got PL/NL tables -- what do we do? Invest more money to keep everything, or invest nothing and drop the lowest income tables?
I would assume a calculation was done of the cost to keep all tables vs getting rid of of the bottom sector. You have to remember also that Pacific runs other online sites, so there is probably some factor of how much bandwidth does all of Poker get, as opposed to some rip off slot machine game, or whatnot, where the house gets all the winnings. |

Re: GOT MY ANSWER from PACIFIC...no more .10/.20 tables
If you make a decision like this it is somewhat shortsighted. Maybe you can better attract more new customers with the micro tables and some of them progress to the higher limits in time and stay on your site? Adding a bit of bandwidth should be one of the cheaper solutions of getting new players.

I agree wholeheartedly...spend a few bucks to keep the customers coming. Eventually it should pay off.
