Firefox 1.0 is pretty cool
Just installed it today. Love the tabbed browsing. Takes a bit of getting used to to close the tabs instead of the windows, but it's a lot handier.
I went to the Mozilla site and they have plug-ins organized alphabetically, but some are for Mozilla, some are for Mozilla FIrefox 08, some for Mozilla Firefox(no number specified), and I'm not bumping into any that really give more description on what they do than there is in their title. Like, Adobe Reader or something I can figure out for myself. The other stuff, though, I dunno what all that is. I have a feeling this is going to be real confusing for a while, with Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox in different versions, and I bet lots of times people not being specific about what works where. I saw some plug-ins saying that if you used them in the wrong browser there could be trouble, one even saying you had to edit your registry or it would crash your browser. No thanks to that lousy of an installation program. Anybody have any particular favorite plug-ins or suggestions for Firefox 1.0? |

See if other poeple can add some cool features. Great thing about open source products! |

Well it doesn't work with the .co.uk version of Amazon's secure pages and my online banking don't look right. I'll stick to IE even with its flaws for the time being.

Re: Firefox 1.0 is pretty cool
Well, two pages not working right is hardly a reason to not use a browser.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's something you have to change in your settings, like enabling encryption, since Amazon's secure server is encrypted. Your security settings may not be set right or something. I just checked my own U.S.-based Amazon account, and I got in fine. Could be there's a big difference in the UK version, but I dunno. I wouldn't push away the program before figuring out if it's on your end first, though, and anyway, problems with secure sites only keeps you away from one part of surfing, not all of it. |

I don't know if it is updated for 1.0 yet (I have .8 and just learned that 1.0 is out), but All-in-One Gestures is awesome.

Re: Firefox 1.0 is pretty cool
Firefox is the best. Ive been using it for about 6 months now. Its way faster than IE. Tabbrowsing is the best feature. You can set as many homepages as you want and when you open Firefox they all open in their own tab. Mouse gestures are pretty cool. Lots of other cool extensions if you really want to customize your browser.
INSTALL IT NOW You will thank me later. I find that I still have to use IE about once a week. In another 6months to a year, I doubt that I will ever have to use IE again. |

http://extensions.roachfiend.com/index.php#bugmenot
Gets you past "registration required" websites. IE users can use it by going to the bugmenot website, but the plugin allows Mozilla and Firefox users to do it with a right-click rather than having to cut and paste. Martin |
