Default 30/60 98s hand

online 30/60 game, a bizarre mix of loose aggressive weakness where one moment i'm getting people playing back at me with A high on the turn while the next moment i'm taking a pot down by semibluffing the flop

bb is unknown. utg is too loose but pretty straightforward postflop. mp2 is somewhat tight/passive/aggressiv/i don't really know. mp3 is LAGgy, but is up a bit on the table. he really enjoys betting and raising into the preflop raiser.

i have 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] on the button and raise after 4 limpers. sb folds. bb tags along too. 6 to the flop for 12.5 small bets.

Flop: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

bb checks. utg bets. mp2 calls. mp3 raises. co folds. 16.5-2 my action. i decide to call. bb folds. utg calls. mp2 calls.

turn: J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

checked to mp3 who bets. i raise. utg calls. mp2 calls. mp3 calls.

river: J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

checked to me. i bet.

is this hand worthwhile? how'd i do?

I'd check the river. I'd think for that many people to call, one of them either has you outkicked or has a J. if they have a worse hand, it's probably a big [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and probably won't pay off anyway. I think you're getting check-raised too often, and check-called too often by better hands to bet the river. I feel like you're going to lose to T9 or Q9

You had the right pot odds to call on the flop and I like the turn raise, but I think I would check the river, too scared of getting check-raised. No one who has you beat is leaving and I dont think you can bet it for value

The river is a confusing spot, but I think I like a bet, considering that you would need to call and possibly overcall a bet anyway. At this limit it's not out of the question that he gets a better hand to fold once in a while.

Folding or semi-bluff reraising is how you play against the weak-tight player who semi-bluffs a lot. It may in fact be "bizarre" and "accidental", but the opponents are playing pretty good against YOU on the flop.

I cannot imagine playing this hand they way you did but then I have little experience with this sort of hyper-schizophrenic game. Looks like a routine PF call and post flop fold to me. Trying to move 3 folks off their hands with the turn 2-bet looks like suicide, but if you really ARE that tight ..er.. appear to be that tight then maybe, just maybe, you CAN bluff your way through this hand.

But I'm real sure that bluffing big pots against someone with a good hand can only be done profitably if its the kind of bozo who likes to smartly save a bet after confusing "apparently" with "obvious" beat.

Default just a question

Since i do not play this high a limit i was just pondering your thoughts behind the flopcall and turnraise and what i came up with was this:

calling the flop in order to raise the turn on any card and give big diamonds the insufficient odds to call?? (odds they would get if you'd 3bet the flop and have everyone correctly calling). Plus you save one sb if a diamond hits the turn and you represent more strength? am i warm?

Only part i do not get is the riverbet, but perhaps like nate says the 30/60 game has a profile that let you fold a better hand. With these many unsure reads i wouldn't put my bet in there though, on such big a pot

I like the river bet, a few said you won't get paid off by a worse hand, but I could see MP3 paying you off with 55-77.

What line would you take? Limp, raise or fold the flop, bet the turn check ther river?
