This may be the beginning of something GREAT.
Well, last night I lost almost all of my Pokerstars bankroll. A huge losing streak turned my sizable bankroll into a total of... yes... here it is...
$1.05 So, now I've resolved: Today is a new day. This could be the beginning of something GREAT. I resolve to turn that $1.05 into $500. Yes it will take me awhile, and I may need a little luck in the beginning, but I WILL DO IT! First issue is game selection. Since I don't have enough FFP I need to enter into a $1 tourney. I will check the schedule and play a $1 NLHE or LHE tourney and try desperately and patiently to place in the money... from there, I will play the $1, $2, and $3 multitables until I have enough cash to play the $5.25 heads up games or $5.50 single- or two-table tourneys. What does everyone think? Can it be done? Can $1.05 be turned into $500?????? |

Just out of interest - what was the median size of your (former) bankroll?

Why waste your time? Deposit $100 into your account and play everything you were going to but on a 10x scale, turn it into $5000. Oh, and if you fail the first time you can do it 9 more times.

Re: This may be the beginning of something GREAT.
I know that this $1 doesn't actually matter, but if you are truly interested in building this "bankroll" up, then you have to treat it like an actual bankroll.
A $1 multi-table tournament would be about the highest-variance way to go about this--the "risk of ruin" is just too high. I'd suggest just grinding it out at whatever their smallest stake is ($0.01-$0.02?) and moving up to whatever level you have 50 big bets for, kind of like the OIC done here recently. |

Better yet, spend the $50 on books and prevent yourself from the losing cycle that you're about to get into. The most likely problem is that you are not good enough to beat the game at this point. Read, study, read these forums and make a reasonable deposit based on the limits you'd like to play. Turning $1.05 into $500 is not impressive, it's discouraging. Discouraging that someone would waste so much time in such a futile endeavor when there are many more personal challenges you can make that are more profitable and more instructive. Cup |

Agreed. A friend of mine got $2 free on Paradise and has turned it into $70 playing $0.02/$0.04. Considering the number of hours he put in, I think that a little nuts. Besides that, I don't think he's learning much at these levels, and is in fact reinforcing bad habits.

median (former) bankroll?
Unfortunately I didn't keep the best records, but my best guess day-to-day since I opened my Pokerstars account is about $235. |

[/ QUOTE ] See, I would do that.... except I am pretty sure that the MINIMUM to sit down at ANY table (even the .01/.02 tables) is $5.00. I think the $1 multitable is all I can afford at this point.... hence, this may be the beginning of something GREAT. |
