Default Hustler Casino L.A.

I am heading to L.A. on 17 April. I am thinking of playing at Hustler [holdem]. I have already been to Bike and Commerce.

Any comments about the Hustler casino would be appreciated.

Also, a good hotel that is nearby.

Thanks,

4A

I've only played at Hustler once (I like Commerce better). I forget if it was 2-4 or 3-6, but they played with no small blind, just one big blind.

I'm pretty sure that they play with both small and big blinds at higher limits.

Hustler is nice, but very small. If you're there on Friday night, you'll see Larry Flynt playing 1k/2k stud with some pros - Johnny Chan and Phil Ivey are regulars.
Hollywood Park is much bigger - a few miles away. Or try Hawaiian Gardens if you want some very nice No Limit action.

I'm surprised he can do this. I believe Nevada prohibits owners from gambling in their own casinos.

not so, if you go to El Cortez on any given night you'll find jackie gaughan there playing (although i believe he just sold most of his properties he has been playing for a while). Plays almost everyday, great guy, terrible player. There is nothing prohibiting it. A lot of casinos don't allow their own dealers to play at the casino at which they work, but most of the time this does not apply to poker because it is not the casino's money they are trying to win.

If you are going there just to say you've been, go ahead. Otherwise the room just doesn't have as much to offer (game) as the other cardrooms in the area.
