i dont need some 10 foot by 10 foot monster command center [/ QUOTE ] Your best bet is to get a 19" flat screen CRT monitor. You can pick one up for under $200.00 and it will perform better then any LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) out there. Just go to your local office depot or whatever and ask them for a 19" CRT Flat screen monitor, they will know what your talking about. Just remember the thinner, does not necessarily mean better quality. For your price range that is what I would get. You will not be disapointed. |

thanks gabs, headin to best buy when my tourneys are over..........i play rayrns tonight in hula, he best be careful of my new equipment [/ QUOTE ] Your Welcome. Also bear in mind that lots of people on this forum have those flat panel monitors. In reality those look really cool because they are thin, but the quality is no where near CRT quality. So if you play games or anything else that requires decent graphics A normal CRT flat screen is your best bet. It all comes down to pixels the more the better. CRT monitors simply generate more pixels, and better quality images. Good Luck! |

Re: finally sucumbing to the pressures......
This is a totally incorrect. "Quality" and "Better images" are all relative terms.
The pro's and cons break down like this... LCD PRO:Easier on eyes, Brighter, lower power, smaller. CONead pixels(returns vary by company)!!!, Viewing angles, ghosting of fast moving objects, COST!!!, inability to properly view images at non-native resolutions (meaning if you change your screen to 800x600 and the native resolution is 1280x1024 then there will be some degradation) So my basic conclusion is this unless you're a serious gamer or graphics expert the "image quality" and "performance" of an LCD will be equal to a CRT. So the real question is cost. A 19" LCD (DELL 1901FP) will cost you about 542 if you get it refurbished while a decent 19" CRT can cost as little as 200. So it really boils down to cool factory vs. cost. And if you do go the LCD route the Dell 1901FP, in my opinion, gives you the most bang for your buck. |

Re: finally sucumbing to the pressures......
19" LCD usually has about an inch more viewing area than a 19" CRT making it equivalent to a 20-21" CRT.

Re: finally sucumbing to the pressures......
the 2001fp often costs $750. it's 20", 24bit, 16ms response time, integrated usb2 hub, multiple video inputs. a far better deal than the 1901.

Re: finally sucumbing to the pressures......
PRO:Easier on eyes,
I agree with this strongly. And it overrides everything else to me. After using a couple of CRTs, I purchased Samsung 190s off eBay. I love it. Good picture. Big. Gets compliments from guests. Easy on eyes! I play 3 games with ease. (yes, some overlap) |

Bleh, LCD vs. CRT - there is no comparison.
