I am a descent mid-limit HoldEm ' player . Some of the holdem'loose ' aggressive players with who I play , have start to play 7-card stud in a home ' game .
The rules are : You can bet 5$or10$or15$or20$ in any rounds The dealer must bring in 5$ , there is no antes The last card is open . I have played stud only 30 minutes in my life & dont know much stategy or theory about that game . The game will be 8 ended & I think that ~5 players in average will see the 4th street , & 2 or 3 are over aggressive . Since there is only one blind of 5$ , I think a tight play might be a good advice , but anymore good advices would be welcome . Thank , -jpp |

That's not seven card stud and the betting structure encourages tight play since the ante is low.
Get a book about seven card stud and read it, and then try to adapt it to the game you are playing. Why don't you suggest real seven card stud with the last card down, and say a standard $10-$20 betting structure instead? |

I think how tight you play will depend on how the others bet. The unique spread limit could make it fine to limp a lot if the others just call third and a typical fourth street bet is $5. In that case, you could play a lot of draws cheaply and jack it up on later streets with the $20 max. On the other hand, if players are going to be making it $60 to go by three betting at $20 right from the start, then yeah I'd wait for big hands to play.

Play tight, but not so tight that you don't get invited back. Play live cards. Flush draws rule. Most players lose money on straight draws. Try to get rolled-up as often as possible. Ask snakehead what his secret is there. Read 7CS4AP twenty times or so.
